The submodel analysis shows significantly different damage in the critical area.
The example shown is a fan bracket -modeled primarily with shell elements– in which critical stresses are expected around the base area of a reinforcing rib (Image 1).
This base area was reproduced with a high degree of fineness with solid elements (Image 2).
However, it is possible to see, with the real casting radii that have now been modelled, that the stress levels are not the same, which means that significantly different damage occurs in this area (Image 3).
