The procedure for the use of submodels can be easily described:

• Generate a medium density mesh of shell or volume elements with your preprocessor
  
  
• Analyse FE-model with your solver software, postprocess results and find critical points of the structure
  
  
• Generate detailed submodels of shell or volume elements at critical locations
  
  
• Use FEDIS to generate boundary conditions for the submodel
  
  
• Analyse submodel(s) with your solver software

• Postprocess high quality stress results and perform fatigue or fracture analysis
